"Wandering into Thoughtshop Foundation was perhaps the happiest
accident of my life. In retrospect, most of the good things in life happen
that way…
It’s difficult to describe my association with the Peer Movement,
possibly because some experiences are better lived through than articulated.
Suffice to say that a fair amount of ground was covered
– Telecounselling on the ASKLINE, workshops on self-discovery, sexuality,
HIV-AIDS, gender. |
The training that the Peer Educators received
was truly holistic; information and insight went hand-in-glove. Grey areas
were negotiated with, conflicting views thrashed out, some stereotypes
challenged and alternatives explored. Through it all, one was constantly
discovering new things about oneself , discarding inhibitions and choosing
new spaces to explore.
And all this amidst endless cups of tea, a few tunes strummed over
the guitar and some familiar faces to come home to. Sounds exciting? Welcome
to the joyride…"
